When God Moves

To read today:

Acts 2:14-41

The Book of Acts describes that ten days after Jesus ascended to the Father, the Holy Spirit descended on the followers of Christ. The supernatural signs and wonders demonstrated by the disciples of Christ when the Holy Spirit came upon them confused others in Jerusalem. They even thought Christ’s followers were drunk.

As Peter spoke to the crowds in Jerusalem, he emphasized the young Christians were not drunk. He said, “No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel” (Acts 2:16). Peter then quotes the many miraculous things the Old Testament Prophet, Joel, explained would happen as the last days arrived. The crowds of Jerusalem were witnessing prophecy being fulfilled. They were a part of a new era, a new movement from God.

Peter’s quote from Joel concludes with what any and every fresh movement of God sets out to accomplish: “…And everyone who calls

on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Acts 2:21). As Calvary Community Church journeys towards 2030, a big part of what happens next will be what we have been doing for more than forty-six years. We will make much of Jesus. As we do, our prayer is that many will call on the name of the Lord and be saved!

Ask God to use your life to point others to Jesus. Ask God to meld our lives together as a church family so that many come to Jesus in the years ahead.

When God moves, people will be saved.
