What Moves the Movement

To read today:

Acts 2:14-41

When asked by his listeners what they needed to do to embrace Jesus, Peter made it simple and straightforward. “Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit'” (Acts 2:38). Peter made repentance a central part of saving faith. He also said baptism would be done because “of the forgiveness of your sins.” In conclusion, the Apostle said those who repented would receive the Holy Spirit.

As the Book of Acts unfolded, the movement known as the Church would spread and grow. The Holy Spirit would indwell new followers of Christ, and His influence would cause the Church to increase in numbers and depth. People would not grow the Church. Instead, the Holy Spirit of God would grow the Church.

What God did in and through the early Church in the Book of Acts, he continues to do today. The Holy Spirit has worked in and through Calvary Community Church for over forty-six years. He still works. As we embark on what God has next for us as a church, we can only do what He calls us to if we surrender ourselves to Him. His Spirit will move in and through us together! Invite the Spirit to lead, guide, and empower you and our church family in the days ahead!

The One Who moves the movement is not any of us. It is the Holy Spirit.
