THE SIMPLICITY OF GOD’S MESSAGE TO US
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.
Matthew 22:37-40

“Calvary 2030” is comprehensive and incredibly important – a lot of words, action steps, and great things to accomplish, but it starts and ends with a few fundamental principles, such as those found in the above four verses. Strict adherence to and elevation of these Scriptural truths is what got us here and propels us forward. Put God first and focus on others. As Pastor Shawn has said over and over – a central focus of Calvary must be on the next generation – others! I find no need to refer to other Scriptures – let’s give full attention to these four verses. Calling 24 words “The first and second greatest commandments” is all we need to know. I’m all for digging deep into God’s Word and discovering the endless truths, infinite wisdom, and matchless hope for eternity. I am also for the practical application of the verses designed to impact our lives purposefully. No portion of Scripture contains a greater need to be humanly expressed than this one.
Reflection: Commit Matthew 22:37-40 to memory.
