But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 15:57

Read Job 14:14

Our family is considered “BIG” by today’s standards. There are six of us. We have three amazing young adults, and our youngest, Job, is still at home. Our family adopted Job in his toddler years, and after prayer and consideration of his birth parents, we chose to keep his given name.

It’s not lost on us that Job (in the Bible) had a hard life. I pray our son, Job, has fewer trials; however, as we walk through trials, they refine us. What stands out to me in the book of Job and this week’s Bible text is that Job asked, “If a man dies, shall he live again?” Job was waiting on his renewal.

The answer is “Yes.” Because Jesus died and rose again, we will also be resurrected. The key is in verse 57. We have victorious hope in Jesus. It says, “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory.” Victory because Jesus came from heaven, died on the cross for our sins, was buried and resurrected, ascended, and is exalted at the right hand of God the Father; He lives to save whoever calls on the name of the Lord. There is hope beyond the grave in Jesus Christ. So, when a Christian dies, death for a Christian is not a foe but a friend.

Reflection: If you don’t know Him today, I encourage you to surrender your heart and life to Jesus so that you can have that hope beyond the grave.
