The Real Panacea - February 2, 2023

Thursday, February 2nd

Devotional written by Pastor Troy Thornton, Developoment Pastor

To read today: Romans 8:22-25

Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.

Romans 8:23

The word panacea is a transliterated Latin word from the Greek word panakeia, which literally means “all remedy.” In other words, “all healing.” In this world, there is no actual panacea for our physical ailments. However, as believers, there is a true “panacea” in the form of the Gospel of Jesus.

The new life in Jesus provides forgiveness and redemption on two planes. The first is the spiritual plane. Our very soul is made as it should be – made right and in communion with God. The second being our actual physical bodies will be made new. Both blessings of grace will be eternal. While we live on earth, we experience “groaning” as we long for eternity to come to fruition. When we are in eternity, we will be made as God intended. We will be right and whole, fellowshipping with Him and each other forever. Jesus gives the “panacea of grace.”

TODAY: Pray for one person you know who needs to hear the “panacea” of the Gospel.
