THE LIVING WORD
To read today:
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12

Several years ago, a volunteer for our Fresh Market ministry began a text group for guests who would be open to receiving daily scripture. It was a simple idea born out of a desire to encourage our guests through God’s Word to see how it could bear fruit for those going through a tough season in life. One guest asked to be added to the group, but a short time later, her phone was stolen. Weeks went by, and the phone was never found. One day, our volunteer who sent out the daily Bible verses received a text message from the missing phone. The text read, “Who is this? Stop sending me these verses!” Our volunteer responded and after a few days of texting back and forth, the person admitted to having taken the phone. This person was convicted after reading the Bible verses being sent, then felt led to return the phone and wanted to talk with someone about having a relationship with God. Our volunteer agreed to meet with the individual, and after praying and reading through scripture, that individual accepted Jesus.
What an incredible story of the power of God’s Word! Today’s key verse in Hebrews says the word of God “is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword.” It pierces between soul and spirit and discerns the thoughts and intentions of the heart!
Reflection: Do you believe that the Word of God has the power to transform lives? Today, send scripture to someone who needs encouragement and see how His word can transform the life of another.
