Statement of faith

We Believe

The Bible is the inspired word of God.  We hold both the Old Testament and New Testament to be the complete, inspired and inerrant Word of God, the supreme and final authority for Christian faith, teaching, and living. (Matthew 4:4, 5:17-19, 24:35; John 8:31-32; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

There is one true and eternal God.  He exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.(Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 6:3, 57:15; Matthew 28:19; John 1:14; John 14:16-17; 1 Corinthians 8:4, 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Timothy 1:17; 1 John 4:10-16)

He is the Creator and Sustainer of heaven and earth.  He has revealed Himself through His creation, His written word, and His son Jesus Christ.  He is perfect in love and righteous in all His ways. (Genesis 1:1, 2:7; Psalms 45:17, 100:1-3; Isaiah 55:9; Romans 1:18-20, Romans 10:14-17; Colossians 1:16-17; Hebrews 1:1-3; Revelation 4:11, 5:12)

Jesus Christ is God’s eternal son.  He is true man and true God.  He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, and born of a virgin.  He taught us how to live.  He lived a sinless life yet was crucified as a sacrifice for our sins.  He arose bodily from the dead.  He was seen by over 500 people.  He ascended to heaven to prepare a place for us. (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:20-23; Luke 1:35; John 1:1-4, 1:14; John 14:1-3; Acts 2:22-24, 32; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8; Philippians 2:5-7; Titus 2:14; 1 Peter 2:21-25; 1 John 2:2, 31)

The Holy Spirit convinces us to repent of our sins and confess Jesus Christ as Savior.  He enables believers to obey Jesus Christ as Lord.  He lives in believers and teaches them to live lives pleasing to God.  He gifts and equips each believer to serve Christ and His church.  He helps each believer demonstrate “the fruit of the Spirit”.  He empowers believers to witness to the world. (Matthew 28:18-20; John 3:3-6, 14:26, 16:13; 16:7-13; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:1-14, Galatians 5:22-23; Ephesians 5:17-21; 10:9-10; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, 12:3-12  2 Thessalonians 2:13)

Men and women were created in God’s image, separated from God by sin, and forgiven through rebirth in Christ.  We were tempted by Satan and rebelled against God.  We are sinful and separated from God.  Through repentance and personal faith in Jesus Christ as our savior our sins are forgiven, we are reborn by the Holy Spirit, and we become children of God. (Genesis 1:26-27, 3:13; John 1:12-13, 3:5-7;  Romans 3:10-19, 3:21-24; 2 Corinthians 5:17, 7:9-10; Ephesians 1:3-8, 2:8-9; Titus 3:4-6; 1 John 1:9)

The church is the living body of Christ on earth.  Christ is the head of the church and the source of its life.  The body is composed of those who have received Him as savior and Lord.  The church exists to glorify God together as we love one another, grow to be like Christ, serve others, and share the good news of Jesus Christ. (Matthew 16:15-18; 28:19-20; John 13:35; Acts 2:41-42; 1 Corinthians 12:27; Ephesians 2:19-22, 4:11-12, 4:15, 5:23-24a; Colossians 1:18; 1 Peter 4:10)

Jesus Christ will return to earth as King.  He will raise the dead and judge the world.   He will establish His glorious kingdom.  This is the hope of the church.  It is our encouragement to live godly lives and serve Him.  Those who are not reborn will be separated from God forever in Hell.  Those who are reborn will live with Him forever in Heaven. (Matthew 6:10; 16:27-28, 25:40, 25:41-43, 46; Luke 16:23; Mark 14:24-25; John 5:24-29; Acts 1:10-11; Romans 14:17-18; Ephesians 1:18-23; Philippians 3:20-21; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18; 2 Thessalonians 1:5; Titus 2:13; 1 John 3:16, 5:11-13; Revelation 1:18)
