small groups

We were not designed to be alone. We need each other to help us become the people God created us to be. In Calvary's small groups,
you can be real about who you are, honest about what's happening in your life, and be encouraged to move forward
in your relationship with God. Small groups are safe places to examine God's Word, build meaningful friendships,
pray for each other, and journey through the ups and downs of life together.

Why do I need a small group?

Jesus told his disciples, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.”

– John 13:34-35

“It is in small groups that people can get close enough to know each other, to care and share, to challenge and support, to confide and confess, to forgive and be forgiven, to laugh and weep together, to be accountable to each other, to watch over each other and grow together… Small groups are God’s gift to foster changes in character and spiritual growth.”

What is a small group?

A small group is typically a gathering of 6-12 people who have committed to growing in Christ together by meeting regularly online or in homes throughout the greater Conejo Valley. Our groups are based on type (mixed, marrieds, men’s, women’s, young adults, and online), location, or seasons of life. Being part of a Small Group is a wonderful way to connect with others in the Calvary family and make our big church feel small.

Do you have virtual groups online?

Yes! We have groups that meet online regularly as well as groups where people pop in online when they are unable to meet in person. Please indicate your interest in a virtual group when you fill out the Connection form.

What do I need to do?

Click here to join one of the available small groups. You can read through brief descriptions and find one that interests you at this time.  When you choose the group, you will be sending an email to the leader, who will contact you to welcome you to their group.  Please keep in mind that it takes time to get to know each other and to see how God will work in and through your group.

How do I become a small group leader?

If you are a Christian who loves to help people grow in their relationship with Jesus, enjoy facilitating discussions and building relationships, this ministry may be a great fit for you. Our leaders often tell us how they have grown because they chose to serve the members of their group through their leadership. If God is stirring your heart about leading a group, please click here to volunteer. We would be honored to meet you and talk about whether this would be a good next step in your spiritual development.

What will my commitment be?

Your commitment will typically be a couple hours a week (or every other week) for regular meetings. Over time, your group may choose to share meals, have holiday parties and other social activities, as well as engaging in serving others together. The more time, energy, and love you invest in your group, the more likely you’ll grow closer to each other and help one another grow spiritually.
