Sharing Scripture – October 8th, 2026

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17

Sharing Scripture

Have you ever read or seen something so good or funny that you couldn’t wait to tell someone about it? I certainly have. It might be a good book or a funny video. When something makes an impression on us, we tend to want to share it.

The same can be true for God’s Word. One of my favorite things about being the Children’s Pastor is hearing children excitedly tell their parents what they learned at church. Children may not always remember all the details of the Bible story, but they do remember that Jesus loves them, He forgives them, and He is with them. When children know these truths, they go and tell others. Their simple act of sharing these wonderful truths about Jesus can make a much bigger impact than we realize. We can learn so much from their example.

Sharing Scripture doesn’t require standing on our big Calvary stage or holding a microphone. It can be as simple as sending a verse to a friend who is having a hard day or sharing something God showed you during your quiet time with Him. It can also mean reminding your spouse, child, friend, or coworker of a truth from the Bible when they need encouragement.

In 2 Timothy 3:16 through 17, Paul tells us that all Scripture is “God-breathed” and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training us in righteousness. God’s Word is not just information for us to take in. It has the power to shape our lives. When we share what we have learned, we give others an opportunity to hear what God says as well.

Our supporting passage in Isaiah reminds us to trust God to accomplish His purposes through His Word. We don’t need to find the perfect words or know exactly how someone will respond. Our part is to faithfully share what God has said and trust Him with what happens next.

There are many ways to share Scripture with someone. Here are a few you could try:
– Send a verse to someone who needs encouragement. Along with saying, “I’m praying for you,” share a verse that reminds them of God’s care.
– Share something God has been teaching you.
– Share Scripture with your children. Write a verse and place it on the refrigerator or tuck it into their lunchbox.
– Post a verse on social media. You never know who might need to see it that day.

You may never know the impact of sharing God’s Word with someone. A verse you share may reach them at exactly the moment they need it. It may encourage them, challenge them, or help them take a step toward faith in Jesus. One simple step may change someone else’s life forever.

My challenge for you today is to choose one person who may need some extra encouragement, hope, or a reminder that they are loved. Send them a verse and a simple message. You don’t need to overthink it. After you send it, trust God with what happens next. Let’s encourage others by sharing God’s Word.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us Your Word. Thank you for speaking truth and hope into us. God, give me a nudge on who to reach out to today. Give me the courage to share a piece of Your Word with them. Help me faithfully point others towards You, in a way that encourages, challenges, comforts and brings people closer to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
