Go local

Love VC is happening and it’s going to be like nothing we’ve done before! Join us for our first ever virtual serving event! On one weekend, Ventura County is coming together to complete hundreds of projects to spread love to our neighbors from the comfort of our own homes! Together we will write letters of love for the elderly, make cards for our high school graduates, clean our closets for transitional homes, and log miles for charity!  Sign up: actionvc.org

Angel Threads

Angel Threads is Calvary’s clothing ministry. We serve individuals, families & organizations in need of like-new clothing. All donations should be clean and in like-new condition. If you have an eye for fashion, enjoy sorting and organizing, and/or enjoy building relationships with shoppers, then this ministry is for you!

Be a Donor: Drop like-new, fashionable clothing, shoes, & accessories in the marked box by Calvary’s main entrance. PLEASE don’t leave worn out or stained clothing.  No household items!

Join the Bin TEAM! This team transports donations to the AT storage area and returns the empty bins to their spot near the main entrance: Sundays after 11:00 service. We also sometimes need help during the week, if you are a weekly attendee at one of the Bible Studies–this might be a great way to serve the Kingdom!

Sorting Days: Join us the first Sunday of each month from 12:30–2:30pm (Lobby outside the Prayer Chapel) to go through the months donations, sorting by size and quality. (Check the schedule for occasional changes.)

Personal Shopping Days: Help individuals “shop” for needed items. Build relationships and pray with guests. This may be a GREAT JOB for you if you are a relational person, mature in faith, and have a love for fashion.

Attend Distribution Days: Distribute clothing to one of our ministry partners & their guests.  The day of the week, location & times vary.  See the schedule below:

**Wednesday, May 6th, Monthly Sort @ Calvary 6-8pm **please help, this is a different time than our usual monthly sorts!

-Tuesday, May 12th, Tuesday Meals Distribution, Meet in Rm 1100 6:15

Blankets and Sewing Ministry

Blankets and Sewing Ministry creates no-sew tie blanket, and for those who like to sew, we make simple sundresses & shorts.

You can choose to participate in the no-sew fabric prep events on the first 3 Tuesdays of every month or join us for the monthly fellowship meeting (a “quilting bee” type event) where blankets are tied &/or sewing projects are picked up to make at home and return to Calvary when completed.

Blankets & clothing are distributed throughout our community & to our ministry partners around the world!

Handyman Ministry

Handyman Ministry exists to help the elderly, disabled, low income, and/or house-bound individual with minor projects.

Needs include: small household repairs, plumbing and electrical work, minor carpentry, and painting.

If you are handy and have a desire to use your skills to serve others, this is the ministry for you!

Volunteers Are Scheduled Based on Requests: When you sign up to serve with this ministry, you will begin to receive an occasional email with a specific need request.

If the need request is within your “wheelhouse” of skills, AND you are interested in the possibility of doing the job, you simply reply to the email. The Handyman Volunteer Coordinator will then reach out to you with more detailed information and scheduling.

The Winter Shelter

The Winter Shelter is a safe, warm place for the homeless to spend the night from December through March. This ministry is critical in assisting individuals struggling with life-dominating issues and in sharing the hope and love found in a relationship with Christ.

Opportunities to chaperone and volunteer are typically set up on a rotating basis.

Overnight Chaperone: Tues. 7pm – Wed. 8am. Two to four chaperones work together to provide coverage during the night. A sleep schedule may be used so that every person has the ability to sleep during the night if desired. We ask volunteers to commit to at least one Tuesday per month from December – March.

Breakfast Club: Wednesdays 5:30 – 7:15 am. Team of about 5 volunteers prepare & enjoy eating a full breakfast with our overnight guests.

Shelter Break-down & Clean-up: Wednesdays 6:30 – 7:30am. Assist with picking up mats, bagging laundry & general clean up.

Sheet Washing Team: Join the team of saints who pick-up 1 to 2 bags of sheets to launder (about 6 sets of twin sheets). Clean sheets are returned to Calvary by the following weekend.
