RIGHT-SIZING GOD’S GREATNESS
When I was a little kid, my family lived in Lancaster, California. Growing up there gave me a front-row seat to some incredible sights. I would watch SR-71 Blackbirds fly overhead and wait for the sonic boom to roll across the desert. Living so close to Edwards Air Force Base, I also saw where NASA tested remarkable technology and where the Space Shuttle landed after returning from space. I remember standing next to an SR-71 Blackbird, amazed by the design, engineering, and creativity behind it.
Even as a child, those experiences stirred something in me. They made me wonder: How did someone figure out how to build a plane that could fly faster than the speed of sound? How did we leave Earth and walk on the Moon? They awakened a fascination with science, flight, and discovery. Looking back, I realize God was using those moments to teach me something far greater.
Every discovery we make simply reveals what God already created. Every powerful telescope that looks farther into space reveals more galaxies than we imagined. Every powerful microscope that looks deeper into creation reveals more complexity than we expected.
The universe is not becoming more amazing. We are simply discovering how amazing it has always been! The God who made the stars is the same God who made us. The God who created galaxies is the same God who knows our names. A right-sized life begins when we remember how big God truly is, how small we are, and yet how deeply He loves each of us.
Application: Where in my life have I made God too small?
Prayer: God, open my eyes to Your greatness. Help me see Your creativity in everything You have made. Remind me that You are bigger than my worries, stronger than my fears, and closer than I realize. Amen.
