NO WIGGLE ROOM
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.
Matthew 22:37-40

There is no ambiguity, no room for competition, and no task so easily understood as this first guideline. The key word is clearly “ALL.” In today’s world, this absolute is tough to find – rules bend and stretch, culture evolves into compromise, and loopholes are found in almost every guardrail we attempt to erect. Our God always has and always will deal in absolute truth. Anything that dilutes or minimizes love for our Lord (heart, soul, and mind) should be identified, confessed, and eliminated. Let’s not kid ourselves into thinking that such measures are easy, simple, or completed in some one-and-done event. We are sinful humans, and we fall short of this standard daily. The “ALL” commanded of us in these verses requires constant vigilance, a disciplined prayer life, consistent Bible emersion time, and a total commitment to obedience.
Reflection: Let us determine what stands between us and “ALL,” then act intentionally to do better.
