Next Steps: Prayer

Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.

Matthew 18: 19-20

Oftentimes I get asked “what can I do to serve kids?” In tomorrow’s Take 5, I will dig into practical ways to serve but today I am focused on what is simply the most important thing we can do for the next generation and their walk with the Lord. What can you do? Pray.

This generation of children and students are up against headwinds some could argue are unlike any other generation before them. The statistics about suicide, depression, anxiety, addiction, and oh, not to mention a global pandemic are staggering. While I have worked hard to remind us about the truth and the faithfulness of God for these young people, there is still the reality that our kids right now are suffering in ways we simply did not. They are resilient but they are also struggling and need us now more than ever.

If we as a church prayed in agreement for this next generation, I have no doubt it would make a tremendous impact on their spiritual and emotional health. We need to be in earnest prayer for protection in their lives and in their homes. We should be focused and disciplined in asking the Lord’s favor and shield of protection on their minds and hearts. May we be a church that bathes this next generation in a blanket of prayer so thick that they rise up and bless our church, our valley, our country and our world.
