LOVING YOUR GRANDCHILDREN

One generation shall praise Your works to another and declare Your mighty acts.

Psalm 145:4

You’ve raised your children, and they’ve left the nest to start building their lives away from their parents. You’ve celebrated their weddings, and they’ve even started their own families. You’ve done your job and now can retire, relax, and think about yourself. I’m laughing out loud, but that conclusion is not that funny.  Grandchildren are referred to as the “crown of the aged” (Proverbs 17:6). If you have children who have children, God is calling you to not only enjoy your grandchildren but to have a spiritual impact on their lives.

There are several ways to love your grandchildren! I would challenge you to love and spoil them with eternal significance. God calls us to work within generations. He set it up that way. God has ordained grandparents to interact with and impact their grandchildren for their good and His glory. So, as we look at “loving your grandchildren” this week, ask God to give you fresh desires about how to have a spiritual impact on your grandkids’ lives moving forward.

Reflection: Do I have clarity on the purpose of my grandparenting? Is my grandchild growing spiritually?  Do my grandchildren see by my attitudes, words, and actions that Jesus is my greatest treasure? Has my grandchild placed faith in Jesus?
