LOVING YOUR GRANDCHILDREN THROUGH LEGACY
Just make sure you stay alert. Keep close watch over yourselves. Don’t forget anything of what you’ve seen. Don’t let your heart wander off. Stay vigilant as long as you live. Teach what you’ve seen and heard to your children and grandchildren.
Deuteronomy 4:9

What steps can you take to leave a godly legacy for the next generation? The current and future generations need hope and intentional grandparents. We are running the Christian race every day, and we are called to finish the race, not just until retirement age, but until God calls us home (Hebrews 12:1-3). Remember, God can use you in the lives of your family or those around you, regardless of your age (I Timothy 4:12).
Too often, we think of the legacy we want to leave with our careers or the community we live in. Don’t get me wrong, that is important, but the most significant impact is on our children and grandchildren. Most of us have an opportunity to pour into their lives. If you’re not doing this intentionally, prioritize these precious souls now.
Reflection: Spend time with your grandchildren, serve with them, and share some of your spiritual experiences with them. Listen to your grandchild’s conceptions of the meaning of life, nature, and God. Talk to your grandchildren about what each Fruit of the Spirit means. Tell them how proud you are of them and how much you love them.
