 LOVE IN ACTION

To read today:  James 2:14-22

What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?  In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

James 2:14-17

The book of James chapter 2 reminds us that faith without works is dead. In the same way, evangelism without love in action is meaningless. We cannot simply tell people about Jesus and then walk away without showing them the love of Christ in tangible ways. Jesus demonstrated this love by healing the sick, feeding the hungry, and washing His disciples’ feet. As we go out into the world to make disciples, let’s ensure that our actions back up our words and that we love people in practical, meaningful ways.

Reflection: Let’s practice what best-selling author Bob Goff says in his book Love Does

“Love is never stationary. But the kind of love that God created and demonstrated is a costly one because it involves sacrifice and presence. It’s a love that operates more like a sign language than being spoken outright.”
