“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

LONG-SUFFERING LORD
Sometimes the most unexpected thing God does is seemingly nothing at all.
There are times when we look at a situation and feel certain we know what God should do. We see injustice and think he should intervene. We experience suffering and think he should bring relief. We pray for something good, even something that seems consistent with his character, and wonder why he has not acted. From our perspective, the answer seems obvious.
Isaiah 55:8-9 declares, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways; as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” He is God, and we are not.
Peter reminds us that what looks like slowness to us may be patience. God sees more than we do, knows more than we do, and is accomplishing purposes that extend far beyond our limited perspective.
Peter tells us that God’s patience flows from His mercy. He is neither indifferent nor distracted. His apparent delay reflects His desire for people to repent and experience salvation. What seems like inaction may be evidence of His long-suffering love.
There will be times when God surprises us by acting suddenly and powerfully. There will also be times when we are surprised by how long He waits to act.
In both, our confidence remains the same: God is good, God is present, and God is still in charge.
Final Thought: When God seems slow, trust that His patience and timing reflect His goodness.
