Life Change Happens in Relationships

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer.

Acts 2:42

In every season of my life, my best friends and most precious relationships have come from church. In high school, I was surrounded by teenagers who helped me follow Jesus and stay faithful amid temptation. In college, I had a group of guys who sought the Lord each week together in Bible study and supported each other in prayer. During my time at Calvary, I have met people who both encourage and challenge me to be the best disciple, husband, father, and pastor I can be. I cannot overstate how significant the impact that people I have met in the local church have had on me throughout my life. The word the New Testament uses to describe that experience is “fellowship”.

The second habit the early church devoted themselves to is fellowship.  While our church has wonderful programs, facilities, and services, we must always remember that what makes a church beautiful, is its people.  As we look to the future, we see a church filled with friendships, community, and life-changing relationships that help us through the struggles of this world.

In a culture that is increasingly becoming disconnected, digitalized, and divided we want to be a counter-cultural place that values face-to-face interaction, confession, encouragement, challenge, and growth. Our leadership believes to our core that life change happens in relationships and we want to help everyone in our church experience that blessing right here at Calvary.

For today: Text someone who you know through Calvary to let them know that you are grateful for them and praying for them today.
