Scripture to read today: 2 Corinthians 4: 16-18
Therefore, we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
2 Corinthians 4:16
There is beauty in suffering. There is a purpose for our pain and good can come from our wounds. Often, our worldly minds can’t grasp these ideas. In times of pain, it is easier to question a God of mercy and love than it is to trust in Him.
The good news is that we are not made for this world. Our time here has an end goal of eternity with Jesus in Heaven. When we fix our eyes on what is seen in our world, we can quickly despair and become hopeless. But when we look up and set our hearts on the promise that is to come, we can rest in the hope of renewed strength. Our suffering here on earth will end, but the love of our Father remains unchanged. The gift of an eternal perspective can’t be measured in gold. Rest easy in the love and promise of a Savior who desires an eternity with Him without suffering.
Memorize 2 Corinthians 4:16 and call it to mind in times of suffering.
