IT’S ALL ABOUT OTHERS
“And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
Matthew 22:39

I read a quote somewhere that has always stuck with me (I only wish I did better at living it out); “our love should be fully focused toward two people – Jesus and the person standing in front of you.” No nuance, no holding back, no do-overs…Jesus and the person (whoever that is) standing in front of you. This is the outward focus of the indwelling Spirit of God working in each of us. Let’s try getting that concept stuck in our heads as we go about our daily lives. It will change every interaction we have with others. Within Calvary 2030, two of the three outcomes specifically call for this outward focus – “Love God’s Family More” and “Love our Neighbors More.” One day, I saw a fellow Calvary staff member wearing a hat with words on it that I liked. Think about the message it sent to anyone who read it: “YOU MATTER .” Many dynamics in the world today are designed to create divisiveness, distrust, and division between our neighbors and us and even within the Kingdom of God. We can’t solve all those realities, but we CAN do better with the person standing before us. Let’s try.
Reflection: Ask God to remind you that every person standing in front of you needs His touch.
