Grateful Recipients

All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

1 Corinthians 12:11

Over the last few days, I have been participating in a gratitude challenge. The idea is to cultivate gratitude through practical action steps to notice the blessings and become more grateful for all of God’s good gifts in our lives. I was reminded of how children from a young age are taught to say the magic words “thank you.”  How often, upon seeing a child get what they wanted, have you heard the parental instruction: “Now what do you say?”  The answer, of course, is: “thank you.”

We have been talking this week about Spiritual Gifts. I hope devotionals have allowed you the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the Holy Spirit and the gifts He imparts to us. No matter if this is the first time you’ve contemplated 1 Corinthians 12:1-11 or the 100th, we all can practice today’s challenge.

We have a generous God.  He knows what we need. He also knows exactly what His Church needs and what the lost who do not know Him need. He has provided us His Spirit for His glory, for our good, and for the benefit of a hurting world.

Today we remember that Spiritual Gifts are exactly what they are called: gifts. Let’s not lose sight of the fact that gifts have a giver.  And what do we say after we receive a gift? You know the answer to that question.

Today: Thank God for providing us with every gift we need to accomplish His purposes in our lives. Praise God! What a Savior and what a Helper!
