GOD MEANT IT TO BE HONEST
To read today: Ephesians 4:25-32
So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body.
Ephesians 4:25

One of the most important things we can do is tell people the truth. In fact, treating people with honesty is one of the most loving things we can do. As we think of family life, trouble often comes on the heels of dishonesty.
As Paul begins a discourse on interpersonal relationships and personal discipline, he starts by exhorting people to honesty. The kind of honesty that is life-giving, not false “authenticity.” The honesty a believer should practice is the “truth in love” kind (Eph 4:15). We must treat our family in the kindest way with the most loving kind of honesty. We don’t want to expose and embarrass each other, but rather encourage and admonish out of love. Think about how many conflicts we can avoid by simply telling the truth, genuinely rooted in love.
Action: Speak into someone’s life today with encouraging truth.
