GOD IS WORKING IN THE DARK
_______________________________________
Today’s text tells us that the first Easter Sunday began in the dark. For all Mary Magdalene knew, Jesus was dead, and their hopes for Him to be the promised Messiah had been shattered. Mary is discouraged because she doesn’t know God has moved powerfully on her behalf. While it was dark outside, Jesus had already risen from the grave and changed everything.
Knowing that God is at work in the darkest moments of your life is profoundly encouraging and strengthening. In those moments of loss, confusion, pain, and heartache, don’t assume God isn’t doing something spectacular for your good and His glory! My observation of both Scripture and my own life is that God tends to do His best work when we aren’t looking. Whether you are looking for a job, dealing with a health challenge, struggling in your marriage, or working through an issue with a child – always assume that God is working in some way, even when you can’t see it. The story of the first Easter reminds us that our God is often working in the dark!
Reflection: Ask God to give you the faith to trust Him in the dark!
