GOD IS STILL WRITING THE STORY

At the end of Genesis 37, everything seems like a disaster. A father is grieving. A family is broken. Joseph has been taken into slavery.

But everyone who knows the rest of Joseph’s story understands something important: God never lost control. Even in the darkest moments, He was still leading Joseph step by step.

Sometimes I think that if we could only see our future the way God sees it—if we could look ahead for just a moment and understand how He will one day turn our pain into something good and beautiful—it would be so much easier to trust Him today.

In the early 1980s, during a difficult season in the Soviet Union, my father became the pastor of a small church after my grandfather, who had faithfully served that church for many years, tragically lost his life amid persecution of Christians. Only a few months later, our family faced pressure and persecution as well. My parents were forced to leave quickly, leaving behind the people, ministry, and life they deeply loved.

It was painful. Unfair. At the time, it felt like everything was falling apart.

But no one could have imagined that only ten years later the Soviet Union would collapse and that through my parents’ ministry, God would help open dozens of new churches and build more than fifteen church buildings across different regions.

What once seemed like an ending became the beginning of something far greater. That is why Romans 8:28 holds such deep hope for us today.

We live in a complicated, broken world. Many things in life can feel unfair and confusing. Sometimes we doubt, fear, and lose hope. But there is something we can hold onto with confidence: God has not lost control. His love has not changed, and His faithfulness has not ended.

What looks like the end today may only be the beginning of a new chapter in God’s plan.

If today you feel like:

  • “My life has gone off track.”
  • “I have lost years.”
  • “Too much has been destroyed.”

Entrust your life to Jesus Christ. Nothing is impossible for God. He loves you. He is the God you can trust with your past, present, and future.

God is still writing your story.

Prayer: Jesus, when life feels painful and uncertain, help me trust that You remain in control. Remind me that Your love and faithfulness never fail and grant me peace to trust You with my future. Amen.
