GIVE WHAT YOU HAVE
Peter didn’t focus on what he lacked. Instead, he focused on what God had already given him.
It’s easy to believe we aren’t enough. If only I had more time, more money, more knowledge, more experience. Yet God rarely asks us to give what we don’t have. He simply asks us to faithfully offer what He has already entrusted to us.
Maybe what you have is encouragement. Hospitality. A listening ear. A smile. Practical help. Prayer. Compassion. Your story. Your time.
We often hear the phrase “Time is a thief,” usually from parents watching their children grow up too quickly. I wonder whether, because time feels so precious, we sometimes hold on to it more tightly than anything else.
Years ago, my husband and I connected with a ministry in Uganda that captured our hearts. As we learned more about their work, our first instinct was to support them financially. But the pastor asked us a question that has stayed with me ever since:
“What would it look like for you to give your time rather than just your money?”
He invited us to spend part of our vacation serving alongside them and witnessing their ministry firsthand. That invitation changed our perspective. We realized that sometimes the most meaningful gift isn’t what comes from our wallet, but what comes from our calendar.
Looking back, I’m so grateful we said yes. Giving time ignited something in my husband’s heart and reminded us that when we offer God what we have, He often does far more than we could ever imagine.
Reflection: What has God already placed in your hands? Whatever it is, offer it freely.
