Our culture has many pressures, or expectations that can shape how we live. What we wear, what car we drive, how we decorate our homes, what music we listen to, entertainment, etc. Many of these things are quite benign.  However, it is easy for us to fall into “cultural traps” that become a driving force, or an agenda that we pursue.  We can forsake Kingdom thinking for some other agenda.  Most of the time in our US culture this agenda revolves around the pursuit of success and acquiring “stuff.”

Paul points out to the Ephesian elders that he is not interested in any agenda except for the Kingdom of God. He reminds them that he has never been after wealth. He has only worked to supply what was necessary to live.  He focused on the needs of others for the sake of the Gospel.  That is Kingdom thinking.  Giving up your own agenda for God’s agenda.  Don’t misunderstand:  It is not wrong to have success or “stuff.”  However, when we lose sight of what our purpose is, then we have lost the ability to be effective servants for Him.

Calvary Vision 2030 is a Kingdom agenda that will take all of us giving up our own agendas and uniting around the needs of others within our church, the community, and the world.  Our own agendas simply won’t matter as we do this together.

FOR TODAY: Think of two people in your life who need something that you can provide.  Meet that need.
