GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE
To read today: Psalm 150
Then David knew that the Lord had established him as king over Israel and had exalted his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.
2 Samuel 5:12

David’s victories over his enemies were not the result of David’s abilities, but rather of God’s blessing in David’s life, or so David thought when he was in his right mind. David may have been a brilliant military strategist, an inspiring leader, or any myriad of things that we may point to and give credit for his success. But an honest assessment can be made that God was the source and sustainer of anything David had going for him. So, it is for each of us.
Your opportunities are not entirely of your making; your pedigree is not your doing but a decision made by God that you inherited. Your charisma, voice, intellect, charm, beauty, wit, gentleness, wisdom, or whatever it may be was given by God, originated in God, invented by God, thought of by God, and shared with you by God. Whether it be through genetics, circumstance, or discovery, you are not the sole name in the credits of your success.
Your very breath and heartbeat are not of your own doing. God created it and sustains it. Give credit where credit is due. Be humbled by His generosity and give Him all the glory He is due.
Read through Psalm 130 every day this week. Commit it to memory and remind yourself that self-sufficiency is not the answer to your deepest longings; instead, it is in acknowledging and embracing your dependency upon Him and in being with Him that we experience the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus.
