FINDING REST AND RENEWED STRENGTH

To read today:  Isaiah 41

Do you not know?  Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40:28-31

In the previous passage, David tried to rely solely on his strength, which worked out terribly for him. It wreaked havoc on his emotional and mental health. He was making one poor decision after another. During this season of his life, we don’t see a single Psalm written by him.

Rest is important–really important!

The summer season is a wonderful time for vacation and rest. With the sun shining brightly, the days stretch longer than any other time of year, providing ample opportunities for relaxation and leisure. You can get up early with a cup of coffee and dive into God’s Word or embark on a peaceful hike and be still with the Lord.

Today is a great day to be encouraged by His Word and filled with His strength. Surrender the things causing you anxiety. Lay them at His feet and pray He will guide your steps. Be open to where He leads you and what He wants you to do.

Final Thought: For today, consider the following questions: Where do you find rest? Are you getting enough sleep? Are you eating a healthy diet and exercising? Do you prioritize your time with the Lord? Your family? Yourself?
