Devotional written by Elaina White, Director of Early Childhood

To read today:  Matthew 11:25-30

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

Colossians 3:15

As a new believer, it took me a while to understand that God could provide me with true peace. Life can get heavy, and feelings can take a lot out of a person. Sometimes, my emotions can still get ahead of me. At times, life can make me feel anxious. In those moments, I lean on the Lord to be my comfort. I’m thankful that the Lord always listens to me in my times of praise and grief.

In today’s verse, Paul reminds the Colossian believers to allow the peace of Christ to rule their hearts and lives. This peace comes from knowing and trusting in Christ as their Savior. It is also a call to unity among believers, emphasizing that they are all members of the same body, which is the body of Christ. The phrase “be thankful” at the end of the verse is a reminder to thank God for all the blessings that come from being in Christ and the peace that He provides.

Prayer: God, thank you for being my comfort. Thank you for providing me peace when I cry out to you. Help me to lean on you more each day as I grow closer to you. Thank you for loving me. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
