Faith, Hope and Love

Verses to read:  1 Corinthians 13:1-13

May the God of hope fill you with joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:13

When we feel at our worst, we can become hopeless. Perhaps that is why Apostle Paul finishes this beautiful section on love with this verse, “love always hopes, always perseveres.” Hope and perseverance go hand in hand.

When we have faith, we can have hope that God is at work and life will look different in the future. We don’t know what will happen, but we can trust that God will be with us. Perseverance shows us that love can endure in all circumstances and proves faith is real. The love of God can give us hope when we have heavy hearts and put us on a path to peace and joy.

As I drove home from Calvary Kids Group last night, the song “God, Turn It Around” by Jon Reddick came on and made me reflect on this devotional that I had started writing earlier in the day. The lyrics say, “I’m calling on the name that changes everything, God, turn it around. God, turn it around, God, turn it around. All of my hope is in the name, The name of Jesus.” When we truly have faith in Jesus, we know we can call on Him, and He can move mountains. When you have a moment today, I suggest you listen to this song and reflect on its words.

Today:  Father God, I pray that through the power of the Holy Spirit, I can develop the qualities of Christ-like love described in 1 Corinthians 13. May others around me be drawn by Your love reflected in me. Help me live and love more like you. In Jesus’ precious name, I pray,  Amen.
