CONVICTION OPENS THE DOOR TO HEALING
For the first time in years, Joseph’s brothers began to face what they had done to him. As they struggled with their own circumstances, their conversation turned to Joseph. The guilt they had carried for decades was suddenly brought into the light.
Conviction is uncomfortable. We would rather avoid painful memories, mistakes, and failures. Yet God often uses conviction as the first step toward healing. Joseph’s brothers finally acknowledged the truth. Before reconciliation could take place, they needed to face their sin honestly.
The same principle applies to us today. Whether we seek God’s forgiveness or work toward reconciliation with others, healing begins when we stop making excuses and start being honest.
God never exposes our sin to shame us. He reveals it because He loves us and desires our freedom. Hidden wounds can’t heal. Hidden sins can’t be restored. When we bring them into the light, God’s grace begins its amazing work.
This is another place where Joseph points us to Jesus. Joseph’s brothers stood guilty before the one they had wronged. In a far greater way, we stand guilty before Christ. Yet Jesus does not expose our sin to destroy us. He reveals it so we can be restored. His conviction is a gift and an invitation to deep healing.
Reflection: Is there something God has been asking you to address honestly before Him?
