Devotional written by Rik Bright, Chairman of Calvary Operations Board
CALVARY HAS AND WILL CONTINUE TO RESPOND
“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Our church is fully committed to the truths in these four Scripture verses. Our motivation is clear, and we are driven by the immediate and urgent need to: Deliberately elevate our love for God’s Word; Dramatically escalate our Christlike compassion; and, Decisively empower the next generation through 2030 and beyond.
Calvary has worked to respond creatively and lovingly through fires, pandemics, financial downturns, and even the untimely death of a staff member. Our Church is not perfect, but the Lord we serve IS!! We need no more instruction than what has been provided through His Holy Word. May we all remember that every act done in obedience to His Word is an act of worship. In Matthew 22:37-40, we have been given a limitless opportunity to walk, talk, and live in compliance with and obedience to our Lord and Savior. Let’s not fret when we fall short – let’s reexamine our lives and ask Him to cause these truths to live big in everything we say, do, and think.
Reflection: Ask God to remind you that every act of obedience to His Word advances the Kingdom.
