Ask for Help

Scripture to read today:   2 Corinthians 7:5-7

Carry one another’s burdens.

Galatians 6:2a

We live in a culture that highly values independence and self-sufficiency. Many of us have a hard time asking for help. When we are hurting or are going through something difficult, we tend to hide it and let people assume everything is fine. In fact, we tell people, “I’m fine” even when we are anything but fine. We might do this because we don’t want to burden others with our problems or have people judge us for our weaknesses. Yet, it is when we are at our low points, when we are struggling, that we most need a Christian friend who can lift us up.

When Apostle Paul became overwhelmed, stressed, and weary during tough seasons of his ministry, he was greatly encouraged by his friend Titus, who relayed messages of love and support from other friends. God calls us to be interdependent as brothers and sisters in the body of Christ. Let’s bear one another’s burdens and put aside our pride and fear of judgment to ask for and to receive help from each other.

Connect with a friend, share what’s going on in your life, and ask for help or prayer.
