Adventure weeks

SUmmer Day Camp
June 13 - August 5, 2022

weekly Program

ADVENTURE WEEKS is a Christ-centered summer day camp at Calvary that offers a safe and fun environment for incoming Kindergarteners through incoming 6th graders (grade as of Fall 2022), including children with special abilities. Our goal is to partner with families in order to provide spiritual support and lead children to a relationship with Jesus Christ.

A typical day consists of chapel time, worship, group games, lunch, outdoor recreation or pool time. Field trips are on Thursdays and this year we have add a few Tuesday field trips.

  • Chapel/Worship – Campers gather together to watch a bible story video that pertains to the lesson we are learning, listen to a short message, and worship to familiar Calvary Kids songs throughout the week
  • Recreation Nation – Recreation Nation consists of team games that will score points for each of the groups for the week. Recreation Nation will be divided accordingly between K-2nd grade and 3rd-5th grade games/activities. Games may include kickball, basketball, nine square in the air, water games, etc. Alternatively, we have different activities for those who aren’t able, or would like to work on arts/crafts.
  • Field Day – Field Day consists of fun cooperative games, competitive activities, and free-time out on our Calvary front lawn. The best part: your child CHOOSES! Activities will be set up for children to choose an activity based on their interest and enjoy making friends in different ages/grades.
  • Pool Days – Pool times are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons from approximately 2pm-3pm at the Oaks Christian pool. Lifeguards are on duty and perform swim tests on each camper, each pool day, to determine their swimming ability. Counselors are also in the pool with campers. There is a shallow end for those who aren’t yet strong swimmers where they can hang out and have fun in the water! Swim vests and floaties are allowed. Please label all pool items with camper’s name, if possible.
  • Field TripsEvery Thursday, we are excited to head out on a field trip where we spend the day at a skating rink, theme park, beach, etc. This year, we have also added a few Tuesday field trips. Tentative schedule is listed below and camp hours may vary depending on the trip. Please note that depending on traffic, buses may arrive later than our usual 4pm pick-up time.
  • Vacation Bible School (June 20-24) – VBS takes place on campus during Week 2 of Adventure Weeks. Campers will participate in VBS in the morning and continue with Adventure Weeks in the afternoon. VBS is included in the cost of Adventure Weeks Week 2 so there is no need to register separately for VBS.

THINGS TO KNOW

  • GROUPS: Campers are placed in groups of 8-10 according to grade/gender with a counselor and 1-2 junior counselors. We are unable to take friend requests.
  • CAMP SHIRT: A camp t-shirt will be issued the first day camper attends camp for the summer. It MUST be worn every day of camp. Please label t-shirt with camper’s name. If camper arrives without a camp shirt or has lost their shirt, one will be issued and you will be charged $15. Extra shirts may be purchased for $15 each. Camp shirts are not to be altered in any way.
  • POOL DAYS: Campers should wear swimsuits under their camp shirt on pool days (Monday, Wednesday and Fridays). You must email the Camp Directors of any water safety/swimming ability concerns. Due to limited changing room availability/options, short time (less than 20mins) in between pool time and parent pick-up, along with the safety/security of your children, we ask that campers remain in their swimsuit until pick-up. If your child is a part of Extended Care, they will be given the opportunity to change back into their dry clothes for the remainder of the day. If you need an exception, please email us and we will be happy to work through a solution.
  • FIELD TRIPS: Transportation to and from field trips is by bus and church vans. Due to the large number of children at camp, attendance by parents on field trips is not a logistical option we can accommodate, nor is early pickup at field trip location. All of our counselors and security team are fingerprinted/background checked to ensure your child’s safety on trips. Thank you for your understanding!
  • NO DEVICES/TOYS: Do not bring any items that would not be suitable at school such as cell phones, AirPods, gaming devices, toys, etc. Counselors carry cell phones that may be used in case of an emergency. Distracting items will be confiscated in order to ensure that camp runs smoothly for all of the children.
  • LOST AND FOUND: Please check the Lost and Found table daily located inside the doors of Room 1108. Items not claimed after each week of camp will be donated.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Camp shirt labeled with camper’s name
  • “Spray” sunscreen labeled with camper’s name. Applying sunscreen to camper before arriving is encouraged!
  • Backpack/bag labeled with camper’s name. Camper’s belongings will be kept in their backpack/bag placed in a designated area
  • Sack lunch, snacks, and water bottle all labeled with camper’s name. Lunches are placed in group’s cooler each morning. Water will be available for refilling. Please be sensitive to allergies of other campers. We ask that you do not pack food with peanuts
  • On pool days, bring a towel, “spray” sunscreen, flip flops and have camper wear their swimsuit under their camp shirt. Label all items with camper’s name. You must email the Camp Directors of any water safety/swimming ability concerns

During check-in, 2 stickers per camper will print: 1 name sticker is placed on camper’s camp shirt; 1 name sticker is placed by the camper on their counselor’s clipboard inside Room 1108.

Additionally, A security code sticker will print which matches the code on your camper’s sticker. This code is REQUIRED for all pick ups. Please note there is only one security code per family.

Please note there is only one security code per family.

EARLY PICK UP: Please notify us of any early pick-up requests via email. We will do our best to have your camper waiting in Room 1108.
