Adventure weeks parent info

What Parents Need to Know

Beach days are at Harbor Cove Beach in Ventura. It is a small, secluded cove with few waves crashing on the shore and is not very deep. The cove is compared to a lake due to its calmness. There are accessible restrooms and state lifeguards on duty to watch the water. Our AW counselors will be watching campers as they play, as well. We will have an area on the beach just for AW, with counselors stationed in the water to mark boundaries and watch from the water. We will also have activities on the sand for those who aren’t interested in going in the water.

One camp t-shirt will be issued the first-day a camper attends camp for the summer. After that, a camp t-shirt MUST be worn every day of camp. Since only one t-shirt per camper is given for the entire summer, no matter how many weeks you have registered, extra shirts may be purchased for $15 each. If you are registering for multiple weeks, we recommend purchasing an additional t-shirt or two for in-between laundry days! Please label t-shirt with camper’s first and last name. If a camper arrives without a camp shirt or has lost their shirt, one will be issued, and you will be charged $15. Camp shirts are not to be altered in any way.

Transportation to and from field trips is by bus and church vans. Buses and vans have seatbelts but cannot accommodate children’s booster seats. Campers must wear closed-toe shoes on the bus and vans. Due to a large number of children at camp, attendance by parents on field trips is not a logistical option we can accommodate, nor is early pick-up at the field trip location. A security guard accompanies us on all field trips. Our counselors and security team are fingerprinted/background checked to ensure your child’s safety on trips.

Please note that buses and vans may arrive later than our usual 4pm pick-up time, depending on traffic. For Knott’s Berry Farm, Soak City, and Disneyland, we will depart early morning and return in the early evening. Departure/Return times TBD.

All Field trip tickets are included in the price of camp. Campers will bring a sack lunch/snack to most of the field trips except the Los Angeles Zoo, Knott’s Berry Farm, and Soak City. Parents must provide lunch/snack money for Knott’s Berry Farm and Soak City since they do not allow outside food in their parks. Parents must also provide lunch/snack money for Los Angeles Zoo since there is not enough picnic area to accommodate our camp.

Campers are placed in groups of approximately 8-12 according to grade/gender, with a counselor and 1-2 junior counselors. Unfortunately, we cannot take friend requests, but if friends are the same gender and are going into the same grade, they will likely be together in a group.

We will collect lost and found items daily. Campers are responsible for checking the lost and found table located inside Room 1108 for misplaced items. Parents are also encouraged to check daily. Items not claimed at the end of each camp week will be donated to a local charity. Adventure Weeks does not accept responsibility for any lost or stolen items.

Campers are to wear swimsuits under their camp shirt on pool days (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday). You must email the Camp Directors about water safety/swimming ability concerns. Due to limited changing room availability/options, the short time (less than 20 minutes) between pool time and parent pick-up, and the safety/security of your children, we ask that campers remain in their swimsuits until pick-up. If your child is a part of Extended Care, they will be given the opportunity to change back into their dry clothes for the remainder of the day. If you need an exception, please email us, and we will be happy to work through a solution.

June 26-30th

VBS takes place on campus during Week 2 of Adventure Weeks. Campers will participate in VBS in the morning and continue with Adventure Weeks in the afternoon. VBS is included in the cost of Adventure Weeks Week 2, so there is no need to register separately for VBS.

By Saturday, before the week(s) you are registered, you will receive an email with detailed information about the upcoming camp week. Please check spam folders because sometimes our emails end up there.

Check-in & Pick-up

CHECK-IN

Check-in takes place in the lobby. Please find an available kiosk and follow the screen prompts.

During check-in, 2 stickers per camper will print: 1 name sticker is placed on camper’s camp shirt; 1 name sticker is placed by the camper on their counselor’s clipboard inside Room 1108.

A security code sticker will also print, which matches the code on your camper’s sticker. This code is REQUIRED for all pick-ups. Please note there is only one security code per family.

PICK-UP

Pick-up is outside of Room 1108. Security code sticker, or photo of code, must be shown to release your camper. We will announce the camper’s name and have them come to the door. If someone else is picking up your child, they must have the security code sticker or a photo of the code on their phone at pick-up.

EARLY PICK UP

Please notify us of any early pick-up requests via email. We will do our best to have your camper waiting in Room 1108. If you pick up early during pool time on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday, we ask that you pick up at the Oaks Christian pool. If we are not made aware of early pick-up on pool days, your camper’s belongings will be in 1108, so you will need to pick items up there.

LATE FEE PAST 4PM PICK-UP

There is a $10 late fee every five (5) minutes late after 4:00pm. The fee will be charged and is due immediately. In addition, at 4:15pm, camper will be placed in Extended Care, and you will be charged an additional $65.
