The Lord is our Focus – May 29, 2023

Devotional written by Elaina White, Director of Early Childhood

To read today:  1 John 2:15-17

Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

Colossians 3:1-2

Each day I wake up striving to improve and focus on what is truly important. But, in reality, some days are easier than others. I know I need to take time for God to work on me. He knows what I need to focus on and where my heart needs to be. My job is to listen to Him, focus on Him, and let Him change me.

At the beginning of Colossians 3, we, as followers of Christ, are called to focus our minds and actions on things of eternal significance rather than our temporary earthly concerns. As believers, we must have a mindset focused on God and His kingdom. Christians are called to think about the things of God, meditate on His Word, and prioritize our relationship with Him above all other things. He wants us to seek His Kingdom and live a life worthy of His name.

Reflection: Let’s open our Bibles this week and set our hearts on Him by pursuing deeper knowledge and growing in our relationship with The One who matters most, Jesus.
