THE TOUCH THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING

Twelve years…

Twelve years is a long time to suffer.

Twelve years of unanswered questions.

Twelve years of disappointment.

Twelve years of wondering if things will ever change.

For this woman, her condition affected more than her health. According to Jewish law, she was considered ceremonially unclean, which meant social isolation, exclusion from worship, and constant reminders that she didn’t belong.

She wasn’t just physically exhausted. She was emotionally exhausted as well.

Maybe you know that feeling. You pray the same prayer and find yourself fighting the same temptation over and over again.

Eventually, you begin to wonder if God still sees you. You start to doubt His goodness.

What makes this story so beautiful is that the woman doesn’t approach Jesus boldly but in desperation. She reaches through the crowd and touches His garment.

Immediately, Jesus stops. Out of all the people pressing around Him, He notices one touch of faith. To be clear, this wasn’t because her faith was large but because her faith was placed in the right Person.

What moves me most is what Jesus calls her: “Daughter.”

Before He talks about healing, He speaks to her identity. The world is quick to label us by our failures, wounds, and struggles, but Jesus calls us sons and daughters. As believers, our deepest identity is not what we’ve done or what’s happened to us. It is who we belong to.

John writes, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God” (1 John 3:1).

Grace doesn’t just change our circumstances. It changes our standing before God.

Final Thought: Jesus sees you, knows you, and calls you His own.
